My Story
Hello. I'm Lindel Greggery, founder of Noticing the Now.
I'm a Sunshine Coast local who has been practising mindfulness for 15 years and teaching this important life skill for 8 years in a range of corporate, government, health-care and private settings. Over that time I've been privileged to work with organisational leaders and teams, university students, health-care professionals, cancer patients, carers, chronic pain sufferers, and the general public.
I’m a registered Meditation Teacher with the Meditation Association of Australia. My qualifications include:
-
Accredited Corporate Mindfulness Trainer, Potential Project International
-
Advanced training in the mindfulness-based behaviour therapy, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) with Dr Russ Harris
-
Mindfulness-Based Pain Relief Practitioner, Integrative Pain Science Institute
-
Qualified in Intuitive Guided Meditation, Jack Kornfield.
Ongoing learning through retreats and workshops with world-leading mindfulness scholars and experts in Australia and overseas is important to me as I continually strive to deepen my knowledge and practice. Training in Life Coaching, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and thinking preferences (NBI, Aus Identities) also come in handy in helping me to understand myself and others and facilitate in ways that makes learning stick.
Before going down the mindfulness path, I’ve enjoyed a long career in the media and communications, as a journalist, editor, PR agency director and corporate communications consultant - and I understand the stressors of a fast-paced life.
One of my greatest joys is sharing the tools and the wisdom that enable clients to skilfully manage their mind and live with greater ease, joy and compassion.
Our mind creates our reality.
While we can't control what happens to us, we can control how we respond to it.
Our Approach
We believe that mindful awareness is at the heart of wellbeing and change. Becoming aware of our inner experiences moment to moment opens up the opportunity to focus on what we choose and take action on building attitudes, habits and behaviours that make our life happier and more fulfilling.
Everything we do at Noticing the Now starts with mindfulness training – because our mind creates our reality and determines our actions and our results.
Drawing upon authentic attention and awareness practices drawn from thousands of years’ old traditions, and more targeted approaches from ACT and Mindfulness-Based Pain Relief, we help you to get in touch with what's important, manage physical and emotional pain, overcome setbacks, and connect to life with greater presence, balance and purpose.

RELATING BETTER

REDUCING STRESS
"Understanding that I don't have to pay attention to my thoughts, unless they are useful, has been a game changer for me.
I'm a lot less stressed about the future and am feeling more hopeful."
BOUNCING BACK
"This training has been a lifesaver - in the way I work and in dealing with others around me. I would not have got through the past year without this."
What is Mindfulness?
It's a meditation practice and a way of life
Mindfulness involves bringing awareness to your here and now experience, with openness, receptiveness and interest.
There are two core mindfulness practices. The first involves learning how to focus attention on one object, usually the breath, to calm the mind and body. The second develops insight by bringing awareness to the changing nature mental and physical experiences, and our relationship to them.
Other mindfulness techniques, such as those used in ACT, take a more targeted approach to changing your relationship with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, helping to reduce their impact and influence over your life.
How do I do it?
A formal mindfulness practice can start with as little as 10 minutes a day of sitting and paying attention in a particular way.
We can also bring in mindful moments throughout our day, by intentionally using our other senses to reconnect with the present and unhook from thought loops and other distractions. Mindful breath breaks, mindful walking and mindful eating are just some of the ways to dial down stress and live with greater presence and intention.
What is ACT?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Known as the word “ACT”, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a mindfulness-based behaviour therapy that helps you to accept what is out of your personal control and take action on what improves and enriches your life.
Created in 1986 by clinical psychologist Steven Hayes, ACT has a large body of empirical data to support its effectiveness. It has proven effective with a diverse range of conditions including depression, anxiety, chronic pain, workplace stress, PTSD, substance abuse and many others.
Unlike most Western therapies, ACT does not label or try to get rid of symptoms, but instead aims to bring about change by transforming our relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings. It helps us to feel the fear and do it anyway – by being fully present and engaged and doing what matters, guided by our deepest values.
ACT uses a mix of mindfulness skills, experiential exercises and values elicitation to help you grow the inner strengths and resources to face challenges and achieve goals with calm confidence.
