Mindfully Managing Pain Program

Do you struggle with chronic or persistent pain?

Did you know that your brain decides whether something hurts or not – 100% of the time – with no exceptions.

This does not mean that your pain is not real!

It means that your danger alarm system, which is there to protect you, has most likely become over sensitised — generating pain even for minor threats or long after tissue damage or injuries have healed.

Learning about how pain is created and establishing a dedicated mindfulness practice has been shown to reduce pain perception, helping individuals to live with greater comfort and less pain-related stress, anxiety and depression.

This 8-session program shares:

  • World leading pain neuroscience (from "Explain Pain" by David Butler and Lorimer Moseley)

  • Evidence-based techniques from the Integrative Pain Science Institute's Mindfulness-Based Pain Relief Program

  • Proven behaviour change tools from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and

  • Foundational mindfulness meditation practices from ancient traditions.

Together, these approaches help you to relieve pain, improve mental and physical resilience, and focus on the life you want to live. â€‹

You'll learn:

  • The neuroscience of how pain is created

  • The 5 steps to proactive pain management

  • Mindfulness practices to change pain perception

  • Drug-free ways of dialling down pain intensity and duration

  • Techniques to improve mental health and reduce fear, anxiety and depression when faced with persistent pain

  • Strategies for prioritising self care and self compassion

  • Practices for developing emotional balance and greater calm

  • Tools for for sleeping better and improving energy

  • How to get back to doing the things you love.

The 8-session program comprises a two-hour introductory session, 6 x 1 hour sessions, plus one Accountability Check-in after program completion.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

"I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone whose pain is shutting down parts of their life.

I was able to gain an understanding of how pain works and how to live a full life without relying solely on medication and/or therapy alone.

5 stars!"

- I.G., Sunshine Coast, Qld

"I have been suffering with neck and lower back pain for over 10 years and this was affecting my relationships, work life, hobbies and especially my mental health.

I highly recommend this course to anyone who lives with chronic pain. It is amazing the difference it has made and I can honestly say I am feeling the joy of life once again."

- K.Q., Gympie, Qld

"I wasn’t sure what to expect from this course but I can only say that any expectations I had were exceeded by miles! This program helped me in so many ways. While there is no silver bullet, the knowledge and the tools provided have helped me to significantly reduce the pain I experience and change how I think and feel about pain. I can't recommend this program highly enough!"

- C.S., Newcastle, NSW

"I had back surgery 4 years ago yet still had chronic pain. I found the program to be extremely professional, research-based, action-orientated, practical and most importantly, effective. Through getting to 'know' pain better, I was more aware and able to use mindfulness techniques to re-train my brain to manage pain differently. In just 8 weeks, I was brave enough to enrol in a Zumba class for the first time ever!"

- A.J., Maroochydore, Qld
